Mainland: Dengue Fever

In Fujian province of Mainland, 39 Dengue Fever cases have recently been confirmed in Hanjiang district of Putian City. As of 30 September, 26 of them have recovered and the others were in stable condition.

Indonesia: Avian Influenza, human

In Indonesia, the Ministry of Health confirmed a human case of H5N1 Avian Influenza affecting a 21-year-old egg-seller from Jakarta Province who died on 28 September. Media also reported another suspected case of human H5N1 Avian Influenza infection which killed a 44-year-old woman from Sumatra on 5 October 2007.

India: Cholera (update)

In India, about 60 new cases of Cholera with one death were reported in Rayagada district in Orissa.

Iraq: Cholera (update 2)

In northern Iraq, more than 500 new cases of Cholera have been reported in Kirkuk since 27 September, Since the outbreak was first detected in Kirkuk on 14 August, it has spread to 9 out of 18 provinces across the country including Kirkuk, Sulaymaniah, Erbil, Dahuk, Tikrit, Mosul, Baghdad, Wasit and Basra. So far, ,more than 30 000 people developed acute watery diarrhoea, among which 3 315 persons were confirmed cases of Cholera and 14 of the disease.

Iran: Cholera

In Iran, officials have recently confirmed 43 cases of Cholera, most of them were identified in the western province of Kurdistan bordering Iraq where there has been an on-going Cholera outbreak.

Africa: Cholera

In Angola, an outbreak of Cholera affecting 90 people was reported in Benguela.
In Senegal, 15 cases of Cholera have been reported in Saint-Louis since 18 September this year. The most affected areas were in the neighborhoods of Pikine and Balacos.
In Sierra Leone, at least 20 people died of Cholera in the northern district of Kambia and the outskirts of the capital Freetown during the past two weeks.

Uganda: Marburg Haemorrhagic Fever

The Ministry of Health of Uganda confirmed a new case Marburg Haemorrhagic Fever. The victim might have contracted the disease after sneaking into a closed gold mine where an outbreak of Marburg Haemorrhagic Fever had taken place in July and early August this year. Authorities believe that the source of the Marburg virus may be from the bat inside the mine or monkeys in the forest nearby the mine.

Democratic Republic of the Congo: Ebola Haemorrhagic Fever (update 1)

The Health Ministry of the Democratic Republic of the Congo reported a new laboratory-confirmed case of Ebola Haemorrhagic Fever, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Kasai Occidental province to 25. Out of which, 10 people died.

Senegal: Cholera

There was a slight increase in Cholera cases in Senegal recently with 1 060 new cases reported across several regions in the country. The worst-hit areas are Touba, Mbacke, Bambey, Louga and Saint-Louis.
