A total of 12 734 Dengue Fever cases with 130 deaths were reported in the Philippines up to July this year. This figure, however, is lower compared to the same period last year.
In Vietnam, a total of 6 000 cases of Dengue Fever have been reported in Ho Chi Minh since the beginning of the year. About 400 patients were admitted to hospitals in last week alone.
More than 38 000 people were infected with Dengue Fever in Cambodia with 389 deaths so far this year. Nearly all of the cases were children. It is believed to be one of the worst outbreaks in recent years

Indonesia: Avian Influenza, human
In Indonesia, the Ministry of Health announced a new human case of H5N1 Avian Influenza infection affecting a 5-year-old girl from Banten province, who died on 22 October. The investigation team found that there were poultry deaths in the case's neighborhood in the two weeks prior to her onset of symptoms.

Myanmar: Avian Influenza, poultry
In Myanmar, an outbreak of H5N1 Avian Influenza affecting 400 birds was confirmed in a poultry farm in Bago division. A total of 33 459 birds were culled.

In the southern provinces of Thailand, more than 3 000 people have contracted Malaria so far this year.

Vietnam: Avian Influenza, poultry
In Vietnam, an outbreak of Avian Influenza which killed 80 chickens and 480 ducks from 13 households was reported in the northern province of Cao Bang. Currently, the provinces affected by the disease included Cao Bang, Quang Tri and Tra Vinh.

In Uttar Pradesh of India, more than 300 people died from Japanese Encephalitis since July this year.

A diarrhoeal outbreak had crossed 19 districts including Madhepura, Bamangamapatti, Rupnagar, Odraha, Haripur, Bathnaha, Mahdewa, and Madhavpur in Nepal. As of 20 October 2007, there were 500 persons being sick and 23 deaths.

Since August 2007, there have been about 4 200 confirmed cases of Cholera reported in Iraq with 21 deaths. Health officials claimed that the numbers of cases have dropped dramatically.

In Barbados, there were 255 cases of Dengue Fever recorded up to the end of September. There were no reported cases of the potentially deadly Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever.

Cayman Islands (U.K.): Dengue Fever
In the Grand Cayman of Cayman Islands, 2 cases of Dengue Fever were recently reported, which were suspected to be imported from other countries.

In Brazil, there were 481 300 Dengue Fever cases in the first 9 months of this year, almost 50 percent more than that in the same period last year. There were 1 067 cases of Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever, mainly from the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Parana and Maranhao.

So far this year, 24 207 cases of Dengue Fever, including 1 230 cases of Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever and 13 deaths have been reported in Honduras. The region of the Central District, which includes Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital, had the greatest number of deaths due to the disease, followed by the provinces of Cortez, El Paraiso and Olancho.

A total of 188 Cholera cases and at least 8 deaths due to the disease were recorded in last month in Angola.

A total of 2 231 cases of Cholera with 12 deaths have been registered since the beginning of August 2007 in 6 regions of Senegal. A big peak of cases appeared after rainy season began in July.
