Mainland: Cholera

In the Mainland, an outbreak of Cholera was reported in Hainan Province. As of 30 October 2008, 30 cases of Cholera were reported in a city named 儋州 in the past two weeks.

Mainland: Rabies, human

In the Mainland, there were 6 fatal human cases of Rabies since 25 July 2008 in a rural county named 彌勒 of Yunnan Province.  Officials have culled 11 505 dogs.

Indonesia: Chikungunya Fever

As of 25 October, 40 residents of the Pajagalan Village of Indonesia have suffered from Chikungunya Fever. The outbreak started in mid September.

Thailand: Avian Influenza, poultry

In Thailand, H5N1 Avian Influenza virus was detected in the chickens in Swankalok District of Sukhothai Province,. Authorities have culled all the chickens in Swankalok District.

Vietnam: Dengue Fever

More than 10 000 cases of Dengue Fever have been reported in Hochiminh City of Vietnam this year, of whom 5 died.

Pakistan: Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever

In Pakistan, more than a dozen patients have been admitted for Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever over the past 2 months and 3 of them died. The patients were from Quetta, Chaman, Sanjavi, Loralai, Zhob and Musakhail. Most of them were shepherds.

France: Norovirus Infection

In France, an outbreak of Norovirus Infection was reported in Lourdes. About 90 travellers from European countries made pilgrimages to Lourdes were affected.

United Kingdom: Anthrax, human

Health Protection Agency of the United Kingdom has been investigating an isolated case of Anthrax contracted through contact of imported animal hides. The affected patient was still under intensive care.

United Kingdom: Measles

In United Kingdom, an outbreak of Measles affecting 22 children was reported in Cheshire. In Lancashire, 97 cases of Measles were reported in this summer.

Brazil: Dengue Fever

More than 41 000 cases of Dengue Fever have been confirmed in Ceara of Brazil this year, of whom 16 died.
