Philippines: Cholera In the Philippines, Pangasinan Province records show that Cholera victims have increased to 57, including one death in Bayambang town.
(Source: ProMED-mail 15 September 2008) New Zealand: Avian Influenza, poultry A surveillance programme on Avian Influenza found H5N1 virus in 2 samples taken from Mallard ducks in New Zealand. The samples were taken from healthy birds and there have been no reported bird deaths or disease.
(Source: ProMED-mail 18 September 2008) Pakistan: Poliomyelitis Pakistan reported 11 cases of Poliomyelitis in the past few days. There were a total of 1 210 cases of Poliomyelitis reported from 14 countries worldwide since 1 January 2008. The 4 endemic countries (India, Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan) account for 1 135 (93.8%) of the cases reported this year. The remaining 75 cases were reported in 10 other countries, which were imported from Nigeria and India respective.
