Turkey: Avian Influenza, poultry

In Turkey, an outbreak of Avian Influenza affecting 22 chickens was reported in Edirne Province. The remaining 16 birds were culled.

Vietnam: Avian Influenza, poultry

In Vietnam, an outbreak of Avian Influenza which killed about 300 ducks was reported in Quang Nam Province.

Vietnam: Cholera

In Vietnam, an outbreak of Cholera affecting 15 people was reported in Hanoi, Haiphong and Ha Tay. The victims had consumed raw vegetables before the onset of symptoms.

Laos: Avian Influenza, poultry

In Laos, an outbreak of H5N1 Avian Influenza among poultries was reported in Luang Namtha. The health officials culled 800 birds around the affected area.

Mainland: Avian Influenza, poultry

In the Mainland, an outbreak of Avian Influenza among poultry which killed 114 birds was reported in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. The remaining 518 birds were culled.

Vietnam: Avian Influenza, human

In Vietnam, the health official confirmed a new human case of H5N1 Avian Influenza. The case was an 11-year-old boy from Ha Nam Province, who died on 14 March. Birds infected with Avian Influenza were found in the district where the boy lived.

Brazil: Dengue Fever

In Brazil, one death due to Dengue Fever was reported in Rio de Janeiro, making a total of 20 deaths due to the disease reported so far this year. In Amazonia, 2 deaths due to Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever were reported so far this year.

Central America and Caribbean: Dengue Fever

In Mexico, 1 380 cases of Dengue Fever were reported in the country so far this year. Out of which, 321 cases were Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever.
In Trinidad and Tobago, an outbreak of Dengue Fever affecting 30 people was reported in Chaguana.

New Caledonia: Dengue Fever

In New Caledonia, the outbreak of Dengue Fever continued to affect the country. Up to now, more than 200 cases were reported in the country. Its capital Noumea was seriously affected.

Southeast Asia: Dengue Fever

In the Philippines, an outbreak of Dengue Fever affecting 406 people including 2 deaths was reported in Zamboanga City. In the Central Visayas, 1 045 cases of Dengue Fever with at least 25 deaths were recorded in the first two months of this year. Cebu City was seriously hit by the disease with 251 cases and 10 deaths reported. In Thailand, 5 837 cases of Dengue Fever including 7 deaths were reported in the country in the first 10 weeks of this year.

Africa: Cholera

In Ohangwena Region of Namibia, the outbreak of Cholera which began three weeks ago continued to affect the area. Up to now, 455 suspected cases with 3 deaths were reported.
In Angola, an outbreak of Cholera which has killed 9 people was reported in Huambo Province. Another outbreak affecting 12 people with 3 deaths was reported in Benguela Province.
In Somalia, an outbreak of diarrhoeal disease affecting 516 people including at least 3 deaths was reported in Hiran.
