Vietnam: Avian Influenza, poultry

In Vietnam, outbreaks of Avian Influenza which killed 800 birds were reported in Ha Tinh. The remaining 1 200 birds were culled.

Malaysia: Chikungunya Fever

Twenty-two lecturers and students of a private college in Selangor, Malaysia had tested positive for Chikungunya Fever after returning from a trip to Pangkor Island in Perak.

India: Typhoid Fever

A village in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district, India had reported more than 15 Typhoid Fever patients. According to the official, contamination in the drinking water pipeline could be the reason for the disease outbreak.

Democratic Republic of the Congo: Cholera

A Cholera epidemic was reported in the village of Muanda, Bas-Congo province of Democratic Republic of the Congo, at least 4 people died.

Syria: Black Travel Alert

As widespread violent clashes occurred in many cities across Syria, including Daraa, Latakia, Damascus, Baniyas, Aleppo, Homs and Hama, resulting in serious casualties, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has raised the Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) for Syria to Black. Residents are urged to avoid all travel to the country. Those already there should attend to their personal safety and avoid protests and large gatherings of people.

Philippines: Black Travel Alert

Following the hostage taking incident in the Philippines which had caused casualties, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has raised the Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) for the Philippines to Black. Hong Kong residents are urged to avoid all travel to the Philippines. Those already there should attend to their personal safety and stay alert.
