Indonesia: Avian Influenza, human

In Indonesia, the Ministry of Health announced a new human case of H5N1 Avian Influenza infection affecting a 24-year-old female from West Jakarta municipality. She died on 25 December. The source of her exposure is currently under investigation.

Vietnam: Avian Influenza, human

Vietnam health official reported a suspected human case of Avian Influenza infection. The victim was a 4-year-old child from Son La Province who died of the disease. The child developed symptoms after eating chicken which died of unknown cause.

Germany: Avian Influenza, poultry

In Germany, an outbreak of Avian Influenza was reported on a farm in Brandenburg. It was the third outbreak reported in the region in the recent 10 days. A total of 46 chickens were culled in this outbreak.

Egypt: Avian Influenza, human

Egypt announced three new human cases of H5N1 Avian Influenza infection. The first case who died on 25 December was a 25-year-old female from Bany Suwef Governorate. The source of her exposure is currently under investigation. Other victims were a 50-year-old female from Damietta and a 22-year-old female from Al-Minufiyah. They were hospitalized with stable conditions.

Russia: Avian Influenza, poultry

In Russia, an outbreak of Avian Influenza was reported on a farm in Rostov Region of Krasnodar Territory. All 79 birds of the farm were culled. It was the fifth outbreak reported in the region so far this year.
