Take precautions against dengue fever when travelling abroad
Dengue fever is now endemic in more than 100 countries in Africa, the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific. This includes various popular tourist destinations for Hong Kong people including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Travellers planning to travel in these areas should take precautions against the disease. Travellers returning from areas where dengue fever is prevalent should seek medical advice as soon as possible if they feel unwell and provide travel details to their doctors.

Chad: Chikungunya fever [Update]

Cases of
Chikungunya Fever have been rising rapidly in
Chad in the past weeks.The World Health Organization reported a total of 10,631 cases as of August 31.
South Korea: Vibrio vulnificus infection

The
Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) has reported 37 cases of
Vibrio vulnificus infection in the first eight months of 2020, more than double from the same period of 2019.
Thailand: Dengue Fever [Update]

Thailand reported an additional 2,922
Dengue cases during the past week, bringing the total to 50,660 cases and 36 deaths, so far this year.
Taiwan: Dengue Fever [Update]

As of 31 August,
Taiwan reported 73
Dengue infection including 58 imported cases, so far this year.
Democratic Republic of the Congo: Ebola Virus Disease [Update]

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported continue spread of
Ebola virus disease in Équateur Province,
Democratic Republic of the Congo. This brings the outbreak total to 109 cases and 47 deaths.
Singapore: Dengue Fever [Update]
1 September 2020
As of 28 August 2020,
Singapore’s National Environment Agency reported 27,097
Dengue cases.
Chad: Chikungunya fever
1 September 2020
UN health officials reported a
Chikungunya Fever outbreak in
Chad. Between 14 – 26 August, 6,163 cases and no deaths were recorded in Abéché district, the border region to Sudan.
Ukraine: Salmonella
31 August 2020
Ukraine health officials reported that during the first eight months of 2020, 16 cases of
Salmonella infection were recorded in the country.
