Take precautions against dengue fever when travelling abroad
Dengue fever is now endemic in more than 100 countries in Africa, the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific. This includes various popular tourist destinations for Hong Kong people including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Travellers planning to travel in these areas should take precautions against the disease. Travellers returning from areas where dengue fever is prevalent should seek medical advice as soon as possible if they feel unwell and provide travel details to their doctors.

Over the last few months, 33 cases and 5 deaths of visceral
Leishmaniasis (kala-zar) have been reported in Tharaka Nithi County in Central
Kenya.
Nigeria: Lassa Fever [Update]

As of 31 October,
Nigeria reported 403 cases of
Lassa Fever with 79 deaths this year.
Japan: Syphilis [Update]

As of 23 October,
Japan health officials reported 6,031 cases of
Syphilis infection. Among these cases, 1,891 were reported in Tokyo.
Ukraine: Poliomyelitis [Update]
5 November 2021
Ukraine health officials reported one case of
Poliovirus type 1 infection in a 12 years old child from Transcarpathia. Upon investigation, the case is not related to the previous case in September and has not been vaccinated against Poliomyelitis.
Bangladesh: Dengue fever [Update]

Bangladesh reported 24,277 cases of
Dengue infection including 95 deaths, so far this year.
Pakistan: Dengue fever [Update]

As of 3 November, health officials in
Pakistan reported 14,510 cases of
Dengue infection in Punjab province and 7,480 cases elsewhere in the country.

Measles outbreak with more than 400 cases so far.

According to World Health Organization, as of 19 October, 191 cases of
Cholera were notified in some communities of Caia District,
Mozambique.

Singapore’s National Environment Agency reported 4,726 cases of
Dengue Fever infection.

Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanitation reported 3 cases of
Measles infection in Kambia District.
Ghana: Yellow Fever

The
Ghana Health Services reported on 29 October that 8 suspected lethal
Yellow Fever infection have been recorded in the Savannah Region.
South Africa: Rabies [Update]
2 November 2021
Since the beginning of the year, 11 cases of
Rabies infection have been reported in KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape province,
South Africa.
