Take precautions against dengue fever when travelling abroad

Dengue fever is now endemic in more than 100 countries in Africa, the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific. This includes various popular tourist destinations for Hong Kong people including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Travellers planning to travel in these areas should take precautions against the disease. Travellers returning from areas where dengue fever is prevalent should seek medical advice as soon as possible if they feel unwell and provide travel details to their doctors.

Singapore: Dengue Fever [Update]

25 October 2021

As of 22 October, Singapore’s National Environment Agency reported 4,638 cases of Dengue infection.

Nigeria: Cholera [Update]

25 October 2021

As of 10 October, Nigeria reported 90,890 cases of Cholera infection include 3,208 deaths.

Democratic Republic of the Congo: Measles

20 October 2021

So far this year, 41,099 suspected and 991 confirmed cases of Measles have been reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including 603 deaths.

Democratic Republic of the Congo reported three more confirmed case of Ebola in Beni health zone of North Kivu Province, bringing total to 5 with 3 deaths.
