Take precautions against dengue fever when travelling abroad
Dengue fever is now endemic in more than 100 countries in Africa, the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific. This includes various popular tourist destinations for Hong Kong people including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Travellers planning to travel in these areas should take precautions against the disease. Travellers returning from areas where dengue fever is prevalent should seek medical advice as soon as possible if they feel unwell and provide travel details to their doctors.

Leishmaniasis.
Panama: Dengue fever
17 January 2022
One death and 21 confirmed cases of
Dengue fever were reported early in 2022 in the Metropolitan Region of Panama City,
Panama.
Nigeria: Lassa fever [Update]
17 January 2022
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reported 48 confirmed cases of
Lassa fever in the first week of 2022, two deaths were reported among the confirmed cases.
Argentina: Botulism

An outbreak of food borne
Botulism has been reported in Andresito, in Posadas,
Argentina. This has caused the death of 3 people with another 8 cases in critical condition.
Singapore: Dengue Fever [Update]
11 January 2022
As of 10 January,
Singapore's National Environment Agency reported 126 cases of
Dengue Fever infection.
Philippines: Rabies
11 January 2022
In 2021, 12 lethal cases of
Rabies infection were reported in Iloilo province,
Philippines.
Nigeria: Monkeypox
11 January 2022
The
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reported 98 suspected cases of
Monkeypox in 2021. Among these, 34 cases were confirmed.
Democratic Republic of the Congo: Typhoid

According to the World Health Organization, as of 12 December,
Democratic Republic of the Congo reported 1,380,955 suspected cases of
Typhoid infection and 502 deaths in 2021.
South Sudan: Malaria

According to the World Health Organization, as of 19 December,
South Sudan reported 3,707,252 cases of
Malaria infection and 2,923 deaths in 2021.
USA: Rabies
11 January 2022
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
United Sates of America reported a total of 5
Rabies cases with deaths in 2021, 4 cases were infected by bat in USA. The other victim was bitten by a rabid dog while traveling in the Philippines and died in New York after return.
