Take precautions against dengue fever when travelling abroad
Dengue fever is now endemic in more than 100 countries in Africa, the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific. This includes various popular tourist destinations for Hong Kong people including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Travellers planning to travel in these areas should take precautions against the disease. Travellers returning from areas where dengue fever is prevalent should seek medical advice as soon as possible if they feel unwell and provide travel details to their doctors.

Singapore's National Environment Agency reported 6,621 cases of
Dengue Fever infection.
Mexico: Rabies

A 41-year-old man from El Salto, Jalisco,
Mexico died from
Rabies on 18 April. The patient suffered a bat bite on his right hand about 10 weeks ago in the municipality of Chapala. He did not consult with a doctor until 9 April when he began to suffer from pain in the arm where he was bitten.

Iraq: Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever

The Public Health Department in Dhi Qar, southern
Iraq, announced Sunday the registration of 3 new cases of
Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever, increased the total number of cases to 14 with 3 deaths.

Brazil: Dengue Fever [Update]

The Federal District,
Brazil recorded 26,813 probable cases of
Dengue Fever with 1 death during the period between 2 January and 9 April, an increase of 520% in the number of infection compared to the same period last year. The incidence of the disease in this capital area is 840.45 infections per 100 thousand inhabitants.
