Take precautions against dengue fever when travelling abroad
Dengue fever is now endemic in more than 100 countries in Africa, the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific. This includes various popular tourist destinations for Hong Kong people including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Travellers planning to travel in these areas should take precautions against the disease. Travellers returning from areas where dengue fever is prevalent should seek medical advice as soon as possible if they feel unwell and provide travel details to their doctors.

Take precautions against Mpox (also known as monkeypox) when travelling abroad
Mpox (also known as monkeypox) is a zoonotic disease caused by Mpox virus. Often found in tropical forest regions of Central and West Africa.
It is mainly transmitted by contact with infected animals, human-to-human transmission is limited. Incubation period is mainly from 6 to 13 days, symptoms are similar with Smallpox infection, but less severe.
Since 6 May 2022, multiple outbreaks wer
e reported in Europe and North America countries, and many patient are self-identified as bisexual or men who have sex with men. Travellers planning to travel in these areas should avoid contact
with infected person. Travellers returning from these areas shall notify the doctor to seek medical treatment and inform the travel situation if feeling unwell.

Canada: Mumps

Health officials in
Toronto are investigating a
mumps outbreak linked to a downtown ServiceOntario office at
777 Bay Street. Four confirmed cases have been identified among people working at the location.
Canada: Hepatitis A
8 June 2026
Manitoba is experiencing a
hepatitis A outbreak, with 658 confirmed cases, 142 hospitalizations, 5 ICU admissions, and 4 deaths reported since April 2025. The outbreak, originally concentrated in northern
Manitoba, has now spread province-wide with at least 143 cases in
Winnipeg.
Sri Lanka: Dengue Fever [Update]
8 June 2026
Sri Lanka has reported 35,228
dengue fever cases so far in 2026, including more than 8,600 cases in May, with the death toll rising to 20. This represents a 30 percent increase compared to the same period last year, with
Western Province accounting for roughly 50 percent of all reported cases.
Bangladesh: Measles [Update]
8 June 2026
Bangladesh has reported 79,012 total
measles cases, of which 9,686 are confirmed, since March 15. The death toll now stands at 620, including 91 confirmed measles deaths. The Directorate General of Health Services in
Dhaka recorded an additional 1,221 cases in the past 24 hours.
Bangladesh: Dengue Fever

Bangladesh has reported a total of 3,604
dengue fever cases and six deaths in 2026. Divisions reporting the most cases include
Barishal (869),
Chattogram (803), and
Dhaka South City Corporation (510). So far in June, 407 dengue cases have been reported.
Yemen: Malaria

Health officials in
Taiz governorate report that more than 22,000
malaria infections have been recorded since the beginning of 2026, a sharp increase compared to previous years. About 64 percent of
Yemen's population is at risk of contracting malaria, with pregnant women and children under five identified as the most vulnerable groups.
Democratic Republic of the Congo: Ebola Disease [Update]
8 June 2026
The Ministère de la Santé RDC of the
Democratic Republic of the Congo reports cumulative totals of 452 confirmed
Ebola Disease cases with 82 deaths, representing an 18.1 percent fatality rate as of June 4, 2026. The outbreak affects 25 health zones across
Ituri,
North Kivu and
South Kivu provinces, with Ituri province accounting for 94 percent of cases.
South Korea: Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease
8 June 2026
The
Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency reports that the proportion of suspected
hand, foot and mouth disease cases has shown an increasing trend over the past three weeks, reaching 4.3 per 1,000 people in week 22 of 2026. The rate for the 0-6 age group was 5.9 per 1,000 people, approximately twice as high as the previous week, with outbreaks typically lasting from June to September.
Uganda: Ebola Disease [Update]
8 June 2026
The
Uganda Ministry of Health reports that the total
Ebola Disease cases increased by three, bringing the total to 19, with the death toll rising to two. Of the total cases, 14 are imported and five are Ugandan nationals, with four patients discharged following recovery.
Mayotte: Malaria
8 June 2026
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a travel notice for
Mayotte due to an increase in
malaria infections, with a total of 197 cases recorded from January 1 through late May 2026. Cases are heavily concentrated in the southern part of the island, particularly the municipality of
Chirongui.
French Guiana: Chikungunya Fever [Update]
8 June 2026
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a travel notice for
French Guiana due to an ongoing
chikungunya fever outbreak, with 509 confirmed cases reported since the end of January 2026. The Western Coast sector remains the epicenter of the epidemic, though cases have spread to
Cayenne Island and the Savanes sector.
USA: Measles [Update]
8 June 2026
The
Virginia Department of Health reports 91
measles cases as of June 2, 2026, with more than 65 cases reported in the past month alone. Nationally, more than 2,000 measles cases have been reported in the
United States to date, with 86 percent of cases unvaccinated.
Sri Lanka: Dengue Fever [Update]
4 June 2026
In a follow-up on the
dengue fever outbreak in
Sri Lanka, the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) of the Ministry of Health now reports 33,864 total dengue cases. The death toll has risen to 19.
USA: Pertussis [Update]
4 June 2026
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the
United States reports a 69 percent decrease in
pertussis, or whooping cough cases through May 23. From the beginning of the year, federal health officials report 4,724 cases, down from 15,211 cases during the same period in 2025.
Japan: Measles [Update]
4 June 2026
In a follow-up on the
measles situation in
Japan in 2026, the Japan Institute for Health Security report 511 measles cases through May 27. This compares to 130 measles cases reported during the same period in 2025, or an increase of 293 percent.
Philippines: Measles [Update]
4 June 2026
Philippines health officials report launching a vaccination campaign (Ligtas Tigdas) in the Metro Manila area that targets 1.2 million children from
measles and rubella. According to the Department of Health–Metro Manila Center for Health Development, the Ligtas Tigdas campaign aims to immunize 1,200,428 children aged 6 to 59 months across Metro Manila through a supplemental immunization activity.
Uganda: Ebola Disease [Update]
4 June 2026
The
Uganda Ministry of Health reports six new confirmed
Ebola disease cases on June 2, 2026, raising the total to 15, with all new cases identified among contacts of prior confirmed cases. Current status shows 12 admissions, 1 death, 2 discharges, and 668 contacts under follow-up amid the Bundibugyo virus outbreak that originated in Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Ituri Province and spread to Uganda including Kampala.

The
Democratic Republic of the Congo Ministry of Public Health, Hygiene and Social Security reports on the active
Ebola outbreak in Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu provinces as of May 31, 2026, with 23 health zones affected and Ituri as the epicenter.
USA: Hantavirus Infection [Update]
4 June 2026
Health officials in Mohave County,
Arizona, report a confirmed case and death from the Sin Nombre
hantavirus in a resident. The source of exposure for the Kingman service area case could not be determined; however local transmission cannot be ruled out.
Brazil: Ebola Disease
4 June 2026
The
Brazil Ministry of Health reports that it was notified on May 30 about two suspected cases of
Ebola disease currently under investigation in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
