Take precautions against dengue fever when travelling abroad
Dengue fever is now endemic in more than 100 countries in Africa, the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific. This includes various popular tourist destinations for Hong Kong people including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Travellers planning to travel in these areas should take precautions against the disease. Travellers returning from areas where dengue fever is prevalent should seek medical advice as soon as possible if they feel unwell and provide travel details to their doctors.

Take precautions against Mpox (also known as monkeypox) when travelling abroad
Mpox (also known as monkeypox) is a zoonotic disease caused by Mpox virus. Often found in tropical forest regions of Central and West Africa.
It is mainly transmitted by contact with infected animals, human-to-human transmission is limited. Incubation period is mainly from 6 to 13 days, symptoms are similar with Smallpox infection, but less severe.
Since 6 May 2022, multiple outbreaks wer
e reported in Europe and North America countries, and many patient are self-identified as bisexual or men who have sex with men. Travellers planning to travel in these areas should avoid contact
with infected person. Travellers returning from these areas shall notify the doctor to seek medical treatment and inform the travel situation if feeling unwell.

Sri Lanka: Dengue Fever [Update]

In an update on the Sri Lanka
dengue fever outbreak, according to data from the
Sri Lanka National Dengue Control Unit, the dengue total has reached 52,068 cases through June 27. Of this total, 18,227 cases were reported since June 1, or 35 percent of the total this year. The Colombo and Gampaha districts have accounted for 40 percent of the country’s total cases, with 10,839 and 10,113 cases reported, respectively.
Bangladesh: Dengue Fever [Update]

dengue fever outbreak in
Bangladesh increased by about 1,000 cases since our last report one week ago. On June 27, the case tally reached 5,628, up from 4,680 cases on June 20.
India: Nipah Virus Infection [Update]

Nipah virus situation in the state, no new infections have been reported two weeks after June 10 when Nipah was reported in Kozhikode district,

USA: Cyclosporiasis

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the
United States reports investigating cases of
cyclosporiasis in 17 states of the country. 145 cases of cyclosporiasis acquired in the United States of people who became sick from May 1, 2026, through June 16, 2026.
Philippines: Leptospirosis [Update]
29 June 2026
The
Philippines Department of Health reports an increase in
leptospirosis cases during the first five months of the year. A total of 2,177 cases of leptospirosis were reported from January 4 to June 6, a six percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Bangladesh: Measles [Update]
29 June 2026
The Directorate General of Health Services in
Bangladesh report four additional suspected
measles deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 702, including 93 deaths from confirmed cases, since March 15. During the 24 hours, 869 suspected measles cases were recorded, while the confirmed cases were 107, bringing the totals to 97,522 and 11,549, respectively.
Democratic Republic of the Congo: Ebola Disease [Update]

In a follow-up the the
Ebola disease outbreak in the
Democratic Republic of the Congo, the epidemiological situation of the Ebola virus disease report, published on Friday, June 26, 2026, indicates that the Ituri province is the epicenter of the epidemic. The report indicates a cumulative total of 1,203 confirmed cases, including 321 deaths, representing a case fatality rate of 26.7%. Currently, 326 patients are in isolation or hospitalized, while 148 people have recovered. The contact tracing rate has reached 82.8% across the three affected provinces.
USA: West Nile Virus Infection [Update]

The
Florida Department of Health reported the first human
West Nile virus case of the year last week in Alachua County. In 2026, positive samples from one human and nine sentinel chickens have been reported from eight counties.

India, state health authorities report 15 additional cases on Tuesday, with
Kozhikode accounting for more than half.
France: Ebola Disease

The
French health ministry confirmed the identification of the first positive case of
Ebola virus disease in the country. The patient, who had returned from a humanitarian mission in one of the areas where the virus is circulating in the
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), was immediately admitted to a specialized facility and is in stable condition.
Sri Lanka: Dengue Fever [Update]

Sri Lanka dengue outbreak: 48,287 cases as of June 23. 14,446 cases reported in June alone.
Colombo district accounts for 10,085 cases, or 20.89% of all cases. The death toll remains at 29.
Syria: Leishmaniasis

Health officials in
Syria reported an increase in cutaneous
leishmaniasis cases across several governorates during the first months of 2026, with approximately 25,000 recorded cases, representing a 95% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Democratic Republic of the Congo: Ebola Disease [Update]

As of June 21, 1,048 confirmed cases have been reported from Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu provinces, including 267 deaths.
South Korea: Malaria

The
Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency issued a nationwide
malaria advisory on June 22, as the criteria for issuing an advisory were met due to an increase in the density of malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
