Southeast Asia: Cholera

In the Philippines, an outbreak of Cholera which killed 18 people was reported in Sultan Kudarat.
In Vietnam, 19 cases of acute diarrhoea were reported in Thanh Hoa Province. Out of which, 13 cases were confirmed to be Cholera. Outbreaks of acute diarrhoea were also reported in the northern areas again and the areas affected included Hanoi, Nam Dinh and Hai Duong. In Hai Duong, 287 people were hospitalized because of acute diarrhea so far this year. Out of which, 124 cases were confirmed to be Cholera.

Southeast Asia: Dengue Fever

As of 5 August this year, 1 426 cases of Dengue Fever including 2 deaths were reported in Thailand’s Rayong Province. A total of 43 911 cases of Dengue Fever including 46 deaths were reported in the same period in the whole country.
In Laos, more than 1 900 cases of Dengue Fever including 18 deaths were reported in the country so far this year.

Singapore: Chikungunya Fever [update 1]

Singapore reported 9 new cases of Chikungunya Fever, bringing to 117 the total number of such cases this year. Of these cases, 54 were imported and had a history of travel to countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

Thailand: Hong Kong Traveller contracted Dengue Fever

A 19-year-old man had travelled to Thailand from 31 July to 4 August. He developed symptoms of Dengue Fever on 4 August and was admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on 9 August. He was discharged on 12 August.

Bangladesh: Hong Kong Traveller contracted Dengue Fever

A 25-year-old man travelled to Bangladesh between 15 June and 5 August. He developed symptoms of Dengue Fever on 1 August and was subsequently diagnosed Dengue Fever after returning to Hong Kong on 5 August. He is in stable condition and no hospitalization is required.

Africa: Cholera

In Sudan, about 6 000 cases of Cholera were reported in Northern Bahr al-Ghazal State after the recent heavy rainfalls.
As of 30 July this year, 960 cases of Cholera including 25 deaths were reported in Guinea Bissau. The number of reported cases continued to rise and all regions of the country were affected.

Cote d'Ivoire: Yellow Fever [update 1]

In Cote d'Ivoire, 19 people have been infected with Yellow Fever since May. The World Health Organization warns that Cote d'Ivoire is at an "elevated" risk of Yellow Fever epidemics.

Nigeria: Avian Influenza, poultry

In Nigeria, outbreaks of Avian Influenza among poultry were reported in Katsina, Kano, Kebbi and Gombe.

American Samoa: Dengue Fever

As of 30 July this year, 4 cases of Dengue Fever were reported in American Samoa.
